Looking for a companion for their dog seemed like a very good idea at the time. Dogs are pack animals and it didn't seem fair to leave him home alone.
A visit to the Animal Control resulted in finding a perfect companion to try - Riku, a Shiba Inu. This medium sized Japanese breed of dog seemed friendly and full of energy like the dog at home. It seemed worth a try so a trial at home was to be given.
The two dogs played and played outside until suddenly Riku let out a scream and ran back to the house carrying his left front leg. By the bend in it is was quite likely that it was broken.
As I heard the story, I was pleased that Riku's new caregivers had taken such responsible action in accepting the bone plating surgery that was needed on a dog they were only just getting to know. I couldn't help but smile and say it was a case of 'Nice to look at, pretty to hold, but if you break it, consider it sold!"
