Dr. Brent Crutchfield

Dr Brent Crutchfield

Originally from North Carolina, Dr. Crutchfield graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Biochemistry. Brent then re-established to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2008. The beauty of British Columbia brought Brent out west and she decided to reside in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Brent joined the Island Vet team after graduating from veterinary school and has a special interest in surgery and ultrasonography. Brent will be taking courses to enhance her ultrasonography skills.

Brent started her own company, inBrentions, while in veterinary school with her mother, also a Brent. She invented and patented a product called Quick-See that allows pet owners to know where to safely trim their pet's dark nails. Quick-See uses colour-changing heat-sensing technology to show the location of the quick. Quick-See was named one of 25 semi-finalists in the History Channel's Modern Marvel's Invent Now Challenge 2006. Quick-See is inBrentions only available product to date, but there are many more in the works.

Brent loves adventure and the outdoors. She enjoys golfing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, cross-country skiing, hiking, running, and kayaking. She lives with her sweet dog, Kansas, a 7 year old German Shepherd mix that she adopted from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2005.
